Matthew Phillips

JEFFERSON, MA.,_Matt Phillips, 62, of Jefferson, died unexpectedly Thursday, October 27, 2016. Born and raised in Worcester, MA, son of Eugene and Olimpia (Salerno) Phillips; he moved to Jefferson in 1992 where he has resided since.    He leaves his wife Gail (Monopoli) and two children, Stephen and Lindsey.  He also leaves his mother Olimpia Williams of Shrewsbury, one brother, Mark Phillips and his wife Lisa, and two sisters Donna Pierangeli and her husband Joseph, and Christine Phillips.  He leaves his father-in law and mother-in law, Gaetano and Christina Monopoli.  He also leaves his sister in law Grace “Dee” Catino and her husband Joseph; Gina Zollo and her husband Robert; TinaMarie Paquette and brother-in law Gaetano Monopoli Jr. and his wife Maureen.  He also leaves several nieces and nephews.      Matt attended Worcester schools and attended Quinsigamond Community College.  He founded and successfully ran Phillips Floorcovering, Inc. since 1978.  He was a skilled tradesman and very committed to providing quality work to his customers.    Matt was a devoted family man, a great father, and dedicated sibling.  He had a great sense of humor with unique, intelligent wit and was a pleasure to be with.  He was an accomplished hunter and sportsmen and took many hunting trips to Maine and New Hampshire over the years.  He had a passion for golf and enjoyed spending time on the golf course with his brother and friends.  He was also a very accomplished pool player winning several professional pool tournaments throughout New England.  Matt loved the annual trips to the White Mountains, Old Orchard Beach and hiking outdoors with his wife and children.       Private services have been held.
