Evalyn Barbara Rapparlie, 85 passed away on October 14, 2016 at the UMASS Memorial Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts. Evalyn was born March 10, 1931 in Lansing Michigan to Richard and Grace Rogers.Evalyn grew up in East Lansing and Midland Michigan, where she graduated high school. After high school she attended Michigan State University, Findlay College, Bowling Green State University and the University of Illinois. Evalyn received her Doctor of Education (Ed.D). Evalyn’s specialty was teaching critical thinking in early childhood education.Evalyn taught in every level from pre-school to graduate school. Evalyn became one of the first female full professors of education at the State University of New York from which she retired. She was also a professor at Mars Hill College, North Carolina. Evalyn also authored a series of history text books. Evalyn married the love of her life Donald F. Rapparlie on December 29, 1950 in Midland, Michigan. They were happily married for 58 years. Evalyn was a member of the Education Honor Society, Kappa Delta Pi. She enjoyed traveling to every state in the U.S. and exploring many countries around the world. She loved her family, friends and playing contract bridge. Evalyn is survived by her son Richard (Lynne) Rapparlie of Mattawan Michigan, her daughter Linda (Kurt) Landers of Englewood Colorado, her daughter Patricia (W.T.) Simons of Round Rock, Texas, her daughter Elizabeth (A.J.) Gemperline of Ashland, Massachusetts; her grandchildren Chad (Robin) Lyon, Jason Lyon, Ben (Rose) Gemperline, Patrick Landers, Geoffrey Landers, Elaine (Dave) Maestas, Lisa Simons, Eric Gemperline; her great grandchildren Sebastian Hays, Drew Lyon, Olivia Lyon, Tori Lyon and Isla Maestas. Evalyn was predeceased in death by her husband Don, her parents Richard and Grace Rogers, and her sister Eleanore. A Private family service will be held after cremati0n.
