Lucia (D’Errico) Gerolomo, of Worcester a devoted mother, grandmother and friend passed away with her family gathered by her side Thursday, October 20th 2016 after a brief battle with cancer. She was 65 years of age. Lucia was born in Marlborough, a daughter of Thomas and Laura (Schenker) D’Errico. She grew up in Shrewsbury and graduated from Shrewsbury High School. In 1975, Lucia married Steve Gerolomo. They began their 41 year marriage in Shrewsbury moving to Worcester in 1977 where they have lived and raised their family ever since. Lucia was a people person working for the Donut Café and Four Seasons restaurant in Worcester until retiring recently. Lucia is survived by her devoted family; Her husband Stephen; sons, Thomas Gerolomo and his wife Denise of Worcester, Anthony and his fiancée Kayti Lapensee of Holden; two brothers and a sister, Gail Bird; Seven grandchildren she adored and found tremendous love with, Lola, Isabella, Lucca, Giuliana, Anthony, Jake and Jonathan; Nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends. In Lucia’s life, her husband Steve, children and especially grandchildren were her life. Family was always first in Lucia’s life; Whether it is special occasions, the holidays or the July 4th parties at her home, these times were special. Her unwavering faith kept her grounded and helped her through life's challenges. Lucia’s passing leaves a hole in her family’s hearts but her loving and caring soul will not be forgotten. She was very generous with her love, time and resources, and helped anyone she could. Lucia also enjoyed the beach and ocean, her customers at the Donut café and Four Seasons Restaurant. Friends and relatives are invited to memorial calling hours Monday, October 24th from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St, followed by a prayer service at 5pm. She will be buried privately with her parents at the cape. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in her name can be made to the Umass Cancer Center, care of the office of advancement 333 South Street, Shrewsbury 01545. The Gerolomo family would like to thank the staff of Beaumont at University Commons especially Donna for the care, comfort and compassion they gave to Lucia during a difficult time.
