John A. Clinton, 71, of Worcester passed away unexpectedly Friday, October 14th 2016. John was born in Worcester, the son of Arthur L. and Agnes (Kenneway) Clinton. He graduated from Worcester Public Schools. John then served for a time in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He later earned a certificate in computer science from Worcester Industrial Technical Institute. He has lived in Worcester all his life and ran for Worcester City Council three times in the 1970’s. John loved music and it was his life’s inspiration. He was a songwriter who composed over 300 songs, a couple of which were published. Most songs were played by his band “Johnny and the Casanovas”. John was also a radio personality for WROR in Worcester. He also worked as a Lighting consultant for Atlantic Electric. John is survived by his fiancée Ann M. Lilla, his life partner for the last 25 years. He is also survived by a sister, Anne Burdette; many nieces, nephews and extended family members. A daughter Maria passed away a birth; five brothers, Joseph, Richard “Dickie”, Mitchell. Warren and Ronald Clinton and a sister Beverly Stamos all pre deceased him. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Thursday, October 20th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. followed by a Celebration of Life prayer service at 4:00 pm. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in his name can be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom St, Boston, MA 02114.
