Frances J. (Hale) Stakun, 82 of Orchard Park, New York, formerly of Worcester, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 with her family gathered around her. Frances was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Charles H. and Catherine M. (Carr) Hale. She graduated from Worcester Public Schools and had lived here most of her life until moving to New York. Frances worked as a supervisor for Worcester Public Schools for many years before she retired in 2001. Frances’ husband of 38 years, Nedwin B. Stakun passed away on July 15, 2000. She is survived by three daughters, June F. Stakun of Taos, New Mexico, Mary C. Fitzgerald of Orchard Park, NY., and Nancy G. Stakun of Wellesley, Massachusetts; her grandchildren, Matthew Fitzgerald, Colby Stakun-Pickering, and Maxwell Stakun-Pickering; nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Frances was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, known for her compassion, and was beloved by all. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon followed by her funeral service at 12:00 noon in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester.
