Armando “Bruce” E. Belmonte, 94, of Worcester, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at the Dodge Park Rest Home in Worcester. His beloved wife, Germaine T. (Granger) Belmonte, predeceased him in March 2012. Armando is survived by his loving children, a daughter, Cheryl A. Laganelli and her husband Bart of Holden; three sons, Richard B. Belmonte and his wife LuAnne of Bel Air, MD, Robert M. Belmonte of Holden, and Mark S. Belmonte and his wife Linda of Londonderry, NH; a brother, Albert Belmonte of Worcester; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, John Belmonte, and by four brothers and a sister, Oresto, Nicholas, Alex, and Manuel Belmonte and Nancy Desimone. Armando was born in Worcester, son of the late Emmanuel and Angelina (Morra) Belmonte. He graduated from the Schillinger House, School of Music and later served his nation proudly in the United States Army, during World War II. Armando and Germaine were devoted to their family and worked hard to provide them a great life and upbringing. Armando worked as a machinist at the former Reed Rolled Thread Die Company, for over thirty-three years, retiring in 1986. He was a lover of music and found great peace in the melody of musical classics. He was a member of Saint Stephen’s Church, the Greendale Retired Men’s Club, and East Side Post 201, American Legion. Calling Hours for Armando will be on Tuesday, October 11, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Followed by a procession to church for an 11 a.m. Funeral Mass at Saint Stephen’s Church, 357 Grafton Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Activity Fund at Dodge Park Rest Home, 101 Randolph Road, Worcester, MA 01606.
