Vincent R. Giustolisi, MD, Col. U.S. Army

Vincent R. Giustolisi, MD, 79 of Leominster, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2016 at UMass Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.  Vincent was born in Brooklyn, New York, son to the late Angelo G. and Salvatrice (Bonvicino) Giustolisi.  He grew up in Brooklyn, New York. He attended New York University and graduated with his Bachelor of Science Degree from St. John's University.  His doctorate studies included attending University of Lausanne in Switzerland and graduated with his Medical Degree from New York Medical College.  Upon receiving his M.D., he lived in many states and countries, relocating with the military, before moving to Massachusetts.  He raised his family in the greater Worcester area and retired to South Yarmouth where he lived for many years before returning to Leominster in 2011.   Vincent served his country proudly in the United States Army for more than twenty years as a Medical Officer and Surgeon before he retired as a Colonel.  After that he opened several private orthopedic surgery offices throughout Massachusetts where he practiced for over twenty-five years. Vincent was a member of the Society of Military Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Knights of Columbus and the Rotary Club in Acton, Maynard and Clinton.  Vincent will be missed by his devoted wife of thirty-three years, Avery B. (Robbins) Giustolisi; his three sons, Charles D. Ells and his wife Lisa of North Smithfield, RI., Jonathan G. Ells and his wife Lisa of Northbridge, and Andrew L. Ells and his wife Kathy of Douglas; his two daughters, Shayna P. Ells of Leominster and Angelica G. Saunders and her husband Jay of Louisville, KY; nine grandchildren, Daniel Moriarty, Allyson Ells, Victoria Ells, Zachary Ells, Amber Ells, Alexis Ells, Adam Ells, Ben Saunders, Kate Saunders; two great grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his brother Philip Giustolisi; two sisters, Tina Grammar and Lydia Dellagio. Funeral Services are being held privately. MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, is assisting his family with arrangements.
