Maria (Solitro) Piracci, 87, of Worcester died peacefully on Friday, October 7, 2016 in the Christopher House surrounded by her loving family. Her husband of 41 years, Giulio Piracci, predeceased her in 1998. Maria is survived by two brothers, Antonio Solitro and Nicholas Solitro, both of Worcester; one sister, Nina Santoro of Florida; many nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces. In addition to her husband Giulio, Maria is also predeceased by four brothers, Michele Solitro of Vieste, Foggia, Italy, Marino Solitro, Giuseppe Solitro, and John Solitro, all of Worcester and two sisters, Maria Giuseppina Ragano, of Vieste, Foggia, Italy and Rosa Meriano, of Worcester. Maria was born in Vieste, Foggia, Italy, daughter of the late Matteo and Laura (Tantimonaco) Solitro and she immigrated to Worcester in 1953. Maria was a devoted wife and a dedicated homemaker. She loved spending time with her family. Maria was a long time member of the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Maria’s funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Loreto Church. A calling hour will be held from 9:00 am until 10:00 prior to the service in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Mausoleum following the mass.
