Edwin E. Pike, Jr., 73 of Leicester, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Saint Vincent’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Edwin was born in Worcester, a son of the late Edwin E. Pike, Sr. and Edith A. (Guglielmello) Pike. He graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and later attended Boston College and received an associate’s degree from Worcester Junior College. Edwin was Worcester Firefighter for thirty-six years, retiring as a Lieutenant in 2003. He previously worked for Millbrook Distributors. Edwin married his wife on March 6, 1964 and they went on to build a life together for 52 years in Leicester where they raised their two children. In Edwin’s younger days, he coached his children in various sporting activities, was a baseball umpire and assistant district administrator for District 5 Little League. He was a member of St. Pius X Church and a Cub Scout pack leader both in Leicester. Edwin enjoyed “The Wonder of It All”, camping and most of all spending time with his five grandchildren. Edwin will be missed by his beloved wife, Valerie J. (Stenman) Pike; his children, Robert Pike and his wife Kristen and their children, Justin, Tyler and Brianna Pike all of Leicester and Kelly Roy and her husband Al and their children Ashlyn and Tanner Roy all of Worcester; two brothers, Ronald F. Pike, M.D. and his wife Martha of Millbury and Jeffrey Pike and his wife Joanna of Charlton; a sister, Sandra Basso and her husband Michael of Lithia, FL; many nieces and nephews. Services for Edwin will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph-St. Pius X Church, 759 Main St, Leicester. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Edwin’s family on Tuesday, October 4th from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
