Katherine M. "Katie" Berthiaume

Katherine M. Berthiaume, 27 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at UMass Medical Center surrounded by her family after a long fight with leukemia. Katie is survived by her mother, Suzanne M. (Staney) Briggs and her husband Donald of Worcester; her father, Bruce Berthiaume of Georgetown, KY; her brother, Christopher H. Berthiaume and his wife Alizabeth of Glenville, NY; her sister, Cori Bishop her husband John of Georgetown, KY; her paternal grandparents, Henry and Lorraine (Beland) Berthiaume of Ocala, FL; three nieces, Alinea, Willow and Evelyn, two nephews, Bryan and Logan; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She is predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Edward and Doris (Lamoreaux) Staney. Katie was born in Worcester and graduated from Burncoat High School and attended Quinsigamond Community College. She was a member of the Genesis Club and the Future Farmers of America with an interest in horticulture. Katie enjoyed knitting, music and loved her cat “Cujo.” She was outspoken and funny at times but always remained brave and enduring during her fight. Katie will be remembered by her family and friends as “Kate”, “Katie”, “Kitty”, and “Special K.” Relatives and friends are invited to visit with her family on Saturday, October 1st from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. immediately followed by her remembrance service at 1 p.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester.
