Robert P. Sposato, Sr. 72, of Worcester passed away peacefully September 23rd 2016, with his family gathered at his bedside. Bob, was born in Worcester, a son of the late Angelo and Josephine M. (Forleo) Sposato. He grew up on the eastside of Worcester and in 1965 married the Love of his Life and best friend of the next 51 years; Sandra Mastromatteo. Shortly after they married and on family land ion Harrington Way, founded and served as president for one of the top Flower shop and Greenhouse companies in Worcester, “Sposato’s”. Bob and Sandy’s, dedication, daily routine and concern for their customers satisfaction were the most important parts of what made his company such a fixture for over 51 years before retiring and turning the company over to his son. His work ethic and daily routine, led him to work part time for Tristate transportation for several years. Bob immensely enjoyed his Tri-State family. This family was extremely important to him and, at the same time, everyone showed him that he was very important to them. Thank you Tri-State. Bob is survived by his dedicated family; his wife Sandra; his four children, Lori S. Lonchiadis and her husband James, Robert P. Sposato, Jr. and his wife Rosemary, Cindy S. Cutler and her fiancée Thomas O’Keefe, and Angelo “Tony” Sposato all of Worcester; the eight grandchildren, he found so much enjoyment with, Lauren Rose, Matteo, Lisa, Marialaina, Bianca, Robert III, Zachary and Cassie; his sister, Patricia Montiverdi and her husband Victor; his special little pal and poodle “Charlie”; Many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and friends. His brother, Stephen J. Sposato passed away in May of 2003. Being a florist, bob’s yard, garden and pool area were impeccably maintained. A very personable man, everyone was welcome in his home and made sure that when there were present they felt special. He had a nickname for everyone and particularly enjoyed his Sunday’s with the family or traveling to his home in the White Mountains in North Conway, where he would rest, relax and make his frequent trips with his grandchildren to “Story Land”. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for their compassion and care Bob received from the nurses, doctors, and staff at the Worcester Cancer Center, and St. Vincent Hospital. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Tuesday, September 27th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 28th at 11 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery.
