Anthony J. "Tony" Puleo, 45, of Auburn, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 2, 2016, surrounded by his family, including his English bulldog, Charlie. Tony was born in Worcester on April 22, 1971 to his proud parents Anthony and Patricia (Smith) Puleo. They are a loving family that includes Anthony and Patricia of Auburn; two sisters, Nancy Puleo of Brookline and Karen Reed and her husband Anthony Alosi of Fair Oaks, California; his paternal grandmother, Rose Puleo of Worcester; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Following Tony’s graduation from Worcester Academy, he attended Franklin Pierce College and earned an Associate’s Degree from Quinsigamond Community College. Tony was a lifelong Auburn resident. Tony filled a room with his big smile, sense of humor, and ability to use his photographic memory, which extended from sports statistics to historical events. He was an avid sports fan and collector of sports memorabilia, especially of Boston and New England teams. On Saturday afternoons, Tony could be found spending time at DJ’s Sports Cards in Oxford with his friends and fellow collectors. Tony was also a connoisseur of junk food and enjoyed esoteric brands of soda. He loved music and had an eclectic taste that ranged from heavy metal to blue grass. Over the years, Tony also developed a keen fashion sense and his bold socks often garnered attention. For over two decades, Tony and his father worked together at their family business, Premium Auto Body Supply in East Hartford, Connecticut. They were best friends and co-workers while operating a successful business started by the elder Anthony until the business was sold in 2013. Tony loved to be surrounded by his family, his friends, and of course, bulldogs. He will be missed by all as a beloved son, brother, and friend. The family would like to extend their appreciation for the wonderful care and support they received from Tony’s care team at Dana Farber Cancer Institute – Neuro-oncology. VNA Hospice provided immeasurable support during Tony’s final weeks. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, September 6, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 7, at 11 a.m. A private burial will be held.
