Rose A. (Capurso) Ventura, 86, of Worcester died peacefully Thursday August 25 2016 in the Hathaway Manor Extended Care, New Bedford. Her husband Frank Festa died in 1976, and her second husband Louis C. Ventura died in 2013. Rose leaves her loving family; a daughter Diane F. “Dee” Downey and her husband Matthew of Mattapoisett, her two loving granddaughters, Katherine Anne and Caroline Rose Downey, two step daughters Francesca Sabo and her husband Carl of TN. and Patricia Dunlap of West Boylston. Rose is also survived by her sisters Nina Naples and her husband Angelo of Jefferson,MA. and Lucy Pacella and her husband Querino of West Yarmouth and Pembroke Pines Florida, also two brothers Michael Capurso and his wife Patricia of Las Vegas, and Frank Capurso and his wife Linda of Shrewsbury, and a sister in law Leda Lopopolo and her husband Vito, and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a brother Nicholas Capurso and his wife Theresa also a step daughter Mary Chiapulis. Rose was born in Worcester daughter of the late Frank and Antoinette (Mazzola) Capurso and lived here most of her life before moving to New Bedford to be closer to her daughter and family. She was a graduate of Commerce High School. Rose worked as a Retail Associate at Filene’s and Marcus Clothing Companies for many years before she retired. She was a life member of the Church of Our Lady of Mt Carmel-St Ann, and their Golden Years Club. She was also a member of the S. S. Maddonna Addorlorata Women’s Society (Our Lady of Sorrows) Rose enjoyed reading, dancing playing Bingo, and a good day at the Casino! But her most treasured times were those spent with her family. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Her family would like to thank the staff of the Autumn Glen Assisted Living and Hathaway Manor extended Care for their kindness, compassion and exceptional care of Rose while she was there. It was truly appreciated by her family. Rose’s Funeral will be held on Monday August 29 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30AM in the Church of Our Lady of Loreto 33 Massasoit Rd. A Calling hour will be held from 9AM to 10:45AM prior to leaving for Church. Interment will be in St. Johns Cemetery.
