HJoseph M. Ricard, Sr., 61, of Worcester, loved his sons. It was with his beloved sons at his bedside that Joseph passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at UMass Hospital in Worcester. Joe lived a great life, surrounded by dear friends and a loving family; he loved to gather with family and friends to watch a game, play golf or pool, or simply enjoy some quiet times in the company of great people. Joe worked as an electrician for many years at GKN Sinter Metals Company in Worcester, formerly PresMet, before retiring, when the company closed. He enjoyed going to the White Eagle, he was a former member of Brown Square Civic Club, and loved NASCAR. Joe’s passion included his sons and grandsons, he enjoyed traveling, coaching his sons in baseball, golfing and playing pool. Joe is survived by his sons, Joseph M. Ricard, Jr. and his wife Jennifer, and Robert D. Ricard, all of Oxford; two grandsons, Domenic and Joseph; three brothers, Alfred Ricard, Jr. and his wife Susan of Millbury and Florida, Ronald Ricard and Vincent Ricard and his wife Pat; a sister, Laura Gabree and her husband Dan, all of Worcester; his former wife, mother of his children and friend, Deborah (Pearson) Schonborg of Worcester; and several nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Alfred J. and Helen T. (McGee) Ricard, and has lived here all his life. Calling Hours and Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 27, in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester; with Calling Hours beginning at 9 a.m. until 12 Noon, when his Funeral Service will begin in the chapel at the funeral home.
