Ida J. “Nita” (Mastrototaro) DeMauro, 83, of Worcester passed away peacefully Saturday, August 20th 2016, in Saint Vincent Hospital, surrounded by her five children and other family members by her side. Ida is survived by her devoted five children, Deborah DeMauro with whom she lived, Christopher DeMauro of Worcester, twins Dino DeMauro and his wife Denise of Holden and Dora DeMauro and her companion Jack Healy, and Elizabeth “Toot” DeMauro-Desrosiers all of Worcester; a brother, Pasquale “Pat” Mastrototaro of Lynn; and a sister, Sophie Welch of Worcester. She also leaves her four grandchildren and two step grandchildren, whom were her life and inspiration, Ashley, Dario, Nicolas and Mathew DeMauro and Alfred Carpenter and Eric Bulak; three great grandchildren, Anabel, Eric, and Hailynn; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Ida was predeceased by four brothers, Maurice Mastrototaro who was killed during the attack on Pearl Harbor, Andrew “Andy”, Anthony “Tanuch”, and Maurice “Chicky” Mastrototaro, and four sisters, Elizabeth Cavalieri, Theresa Peterson, Mary Alexandrov and Lena D’Onofrio. Ida was born in Worcester a daughter of Giuseppe and Dora (Parziale) Mastrototaro and has lived here all her life. Ida was predominantly, a homemaker raising her family, a job she loved and also worked at various places most notably the former Italian Kitchen on Shrewsbury Street. Ida enjoyed playing cards, especially “Poker” and the occasional trip to the casinos. A typical Italian mother, she loved to cook and bake Italian delicacies. She cherished the times her family was around her during the Holidays and special occasions. Everyone who entered Ida’s home never was allowed to leave with having something to eat. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Tuesday, August 23rd from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Wednesday, August 24th from the funeral home with a procession to Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd where her Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in St John Cemetery.
