Maureen L. (Russo) Saksa, 58 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at home. Maureen was born in Worcester, MA on September 19, 1957, graduated from Holy Name Central Catholic High School, Class of 1975 and was a lifelong resident of Worcester. She worked 28 years in service for the City of Worcester as a Dispatcher at the Department of Emergency Communication before she retired in 2008. Maureen was a former officer and member of both the Auburn/Webster Lodge of Elks #2118 and Worcester Lodge of Elks #243. She loved the Red Sox especially former pitcher Pedro Martinez, Nascar, music especially “Elvis” and her cat, Victoria. Maureen will sadly be missed by her two daughters, Stephanie M. Saksa of Worcester and Jennifer and her husband Daniel Toomey of West Roxbury; two grandsons, Noah Gurnick and Daniel Toomey, Jr.; her former husband, Stephen P. Saksa; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, David and Anne Marie Saksa; a brother-in-law, Brian Saksa all of Worcester; an aunt, Elaine Zona of West Boylston; an uncle, William Piscillo of Worcester; her best friend, Annmarie Haggerty of Worcester and her three daughters, Joann Muldoon, Beth and Amanda Kalinowski; many cousins, special friends and extended family. She is predeceased by her parents, Joseph “Harry” and Linnea Virginia (Johnson) Hebert. Maureen’s daughters would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Maureen’s friend Will for his care, compassion and the countless times he went out of his way to help Maureen with anything she needed. Services for Maureen will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with procession to Saint John’s Church, 44 Temple St., Worcester where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held privately. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with her family on Friday, August 19th from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
