Edward J. Breau

February 6, 1930 — August 11, 2016

Edward J. Breau, 86 of Worcester, passed away peacefully at his home after a period of declining health on Thursday, August 11, 2016, surrounded by his adoring family. Edward was born February 6, 1930 in Rumford, ME the son of the late Fabien and Elizabeth (Herbert) Breau. He and his family moved to Worcester in 1942, where he was raised and graduated from South High School. Edward was married for fifty-five years to Alice M. (Gasek) Breau until she passed away on June 15, 2009. Edward proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1949 until 1952 during the Korean war and later went on to serve his community as a Worcester Fire Fighter until he retired. Edward was a longtime member of the Norco Sportsman’s club in Princeton, MA; he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and target shooting. Edward was also a member of Saint Joseph’s Church in Worcester and the Veterans of Foreign Wars & American Legion Post 414. He was a passionate sports fan and he especially loved rooting for the New England Patriots. Edward’s big heart and selfless nature are what truly defined his character. First and foremost Edward was a family man and his love for his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family was always shown in the times he spent with them all, especially with his grandson Rick who was his naptime buddy and hide and go seek partner. Although Edward has been called home with God his legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the next generations of his family that will forever miss his company. He is survived by his wife Ruth A. (Macionis) Breau; his sons, Edward “Kip” J. Breau of Lusby, MD, Robert Davies and his wife Denise of South Windsor, CT; his daughter, Christina (Davies) Marrama and her husband Rick of Leominster; twelve grandchildren, Heather Ward, Robin Gravelle, Ruth Breau, Sara Breau, Rick Marrama, Jr., Gabriel, Ava, Lucas Davies, Adam, Michael, and Jon Davies, and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Edward was predeceased by his wife of fifty five years Alice M. (Gasek) Breau, his parents, Fabien and Elizabeth (Herbert) Breau; his son, Jon Davies; five sisters, Doria Lopitz, Albertine Kelly, Anita Lee, Ella Poe, and Elaine Warner and a brother Elias Breau.
