Patrick D. Thomas

Patrick D. Thomas loved the ocean and working as a naturalist with the New England Aquarium.  He found peace and happiness in the beauty of the ocean and its beaches.  Patrick passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2016, he was 44.  Patrick is survived by his loving wife Emily C. (Francese) Thomas, and their children, Sofia M. Thomas, Collin B. Thomas, and Aiden P. Thomas, all at home in Worcester.  He is also survived by his parents, Larry and Janice (Moisson) Thomas of Winthrop; a brother, Larry Thomas, Jr. and his wife Alicia of Eight Mile, Alabama; a sister, Lori Ingram and her husband Jay of San Diego; his father and mother in law, Joseph and Marjorie (Chapman) Francese of Worcester; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.  Patrick was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, but grew up on the ocean living in Winthrop, Massachusetts.  He graduated from Winthrop High School and was educated at UMass Amherst.  He settled in Worcester in 2002, following his marriage to Emily; settling here to raise their family.  He was a client service officer for BNY Mellon since 2001, having previously worked a dream job for New England Aquarium as a naturalist, where he spent many a day on a boat studying the ocean and its environment. Patrick loved his family and found great joy and pride in spending time with his children during quiet family time or such adventures as taking them to Florida for a Star Wars convention.  He was always happy and enjoyed being with his many friends and his loving family; and it was Patrick that made a party fun with his laughter and electric personality.  He enjoyed golf, all New England sports and being with the people he loved. Calling Hours for Patrick will be held on Friday, August 12, from 4 p.m. until his Funeral Service begins at 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.
