Susan (Lindberg) Shanahan, 51 of Princeton, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, July 18, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Susan was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Richard D. Lindberg and Jane Lindberg. She grew up in West Boylston where she was a graduate of West Boylston High School, moving to Princeton in the early 90’s to start her family. Susan received her Electrical Engineering Degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Susan was an Engineering product Planner for AT&T Lucent technologies for 12 years. Susan worked for the Town of Princeton as the Director of Princeton Parks and Recreation and Council on Aging, President of the Thomas Prince School Parent Teachers Association, Wachusett Mountain Ski Area and any other area that she could help. She devoted any spare time to helping others and was always eager to assist. Susan most enjoyed her summers on Lake Winnipesaukee at Lake Shore Park in Gilford, New Hampshire with family and friends making many lasting memories. She was always found in her iconic spot on the beach reading, organizing events at the pavilion, out in the water, or spending time with her countless friends. Susan sadly leaves behind her much-loved husband with whom she recently celebrated 25 years, Michael J Shanahan; her four children, Liam, Collin, Clare, and Quinn, all of Princeton; her mother Jane (Mercadante) Lindberg; four brothers, David Lindberg, Donald Lindberg, Jeffrey Lindberg, Dr. James Lindberg and their respective families; as well as countless members of her extended family, and beloved friends. Susan was an amazing and inspiring parent, volunteer, friend, daughter, sister and leader. She will be sorely missed but forever remembered with love and admiration. A period of calling hours for Susan will be held on Friday, July 22nd from 4-7 p.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial next to her father will immediately follow in Mount Vernon Cemetery, West Boylston.
