Marie Augustin

Marie (nee Maurrasse) Augustin, 95 of Worcester, formerly of Port de Paix, Haiti, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family. Marie’s husband of 53 years, Joseph Darius Augustin passed away in May of 2001. She is survived by two sons, Reynald Augustin of Worcester and Antoine Augustin of Haiti; four daughters, Irene Darius, Marie Vincent and Marlyse Augustin all of Worcester and Jacqueline Cesaire and her husband Carmy of Westminster; a sister, Gabrielle Sylvain of NY; 21 grandchildren, including Rejine, Daniel, Jr., Florence, Doris, Carmy, Jacques, Chantal, Evans, Natasha, Tamara, Reynaldine, Reynald, Jr., Carl, Maedell, Murielle, Manisha, Alphonse, Jr., Guerlanda, Brianna, Richardson and Marie-Dainyka sixteen great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her daughter, Marie-Therese Georges; two brothers, Lucien and Fernand Maurrasse; four sisters, Lucienne, Fernande, Elvire and Flora Maurrasse. Marie was born in Port de Paix, Haiti, a daughter of the late Florentin Maurrasse and Marianna Nicholas. She graduated from high school in Haiti and later received her certification as a fashion designer.  She came to Worcester in 1981 and has lived here ever since.  Marie was a member of Holy Family-St. Joseph Parish.  She was a woman of faith, an avid prayer and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  She was an active member of her church in Haiti, heading up Dorcas in which she worked with the poor and homeless in her community. Marie was a source of strength and encouragement to her loved ones. She will be missed greatly but forever in our hearts as she awaits the return of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Services will be held privately.
