Edward J. Jacobson, Jr., of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston surrounded by his loving family. Edward is survived by the love of his life and wife of 32 years, Darlene C. (Bugan) Jacobson; his seven children, Laura Sexton and her husband Scott and their children Bailey and Taylor of Colchester, VT, Edward J. Jacobson, III and his fiancé Mandy Byrne of Cambridge, VT, Denise Jacobson of Millbury, Danielle Jacobson of Littleton, CO, Deanne Jacobson and her fiancé Jesse St. Pierre and his son Gabe of Worcester, Darcie Jacobson of Commerce, MI and Mark Jacobson and his fiancé Bianca Giacobbi of Leicester; his mother, Louise P. (Jensen) Jacobson of Worcester; two sisters, Donna Miller of Rutland and Diane Danielson of Utah; his beloved dog “Macho”; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister, Stephanie Bird. Edward was born in 1946 in Auburn, the son of the late Edward J. Jacobson, Sr. and graduated from Auburn High School. After school, he entered the United States Army serving his country proudly as a staff sergeant in the Vietnam War. Upon his return from active duty, he graduated from Fisher Junior College with an associate’s degree in business management. Edward worked as an electronics technician for Bloomfield Corporation and was also a truck driver for Pioneer Oil Company retiring in 2011 due to illness. Edward was known for his sense of humor and the pride he had for his family. He loved to go exploring with his children every weekend. Services for Edward will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St., Winchendon, MA. A period of calling hours will be held on Monday, July 11th from 5-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
