Patsy J. DeMauro

September 26, 1931 — July 3, 2016

Patsy J. DeMauro, 84, of Worcester, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2016, surrounded by his loving family at the Odd Fellows Home in Worcester. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Barbara L. (Hillgren) DeMauro; two daughters, Nancy George and her husband Jay of Worcester, and Diane R. McGee and her husband Wes of Oxford; three grandchildren, Lindsey Silva and her husband Nathan, Wesley DeMauro, and Meghan Baldwin and her husband Jason; two great grandchildren, Conner and Colin.  He is also survived by three brothers, Michael DeMauro, Joseph DeMauro, and Santo DeMauro, all of Worcester; a sister, Mary Lizotte in Colorado; many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a brother and two sisters, James DeMauro, Lucille Rano, and Geraldine Shemeligian.  Patsy was born in Portland, Maine, son of the late, Santo and Beatrice (Micicco) DeMauro.  He served his nation proudly in the United States Army, during the Korean Conflict. Patsy retired from Jamesbury Corporation in 1996, after many years of dedicated service.  He had previously worked for several construction companies around Worcester, and had also served the City and its people, as a Worcester Police Officer for several years.  He was a member of the Greendale Retired Men’s Club, he enjoyed going to New England beaches, tending to his gardens, and watching the Patriots and Red Sox.  Patsy loved to be surrounded by his family and found the greatest joys in life were those special times with all of them. The DeMauro family would like to express a heartfelt “thank you” to all of the special people on staff at the Odd Fellow Home.  Their compassion and kindness toward Patsy and his family gave them comfort, during his time spent in their care. Calling Hours for Patsy will be held on Wednesday, July 6, from 5 p.m. until his Funeral Service begins at 7 p.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.  Interment with Military Funeral Honors will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 7, in the Garden of Valor at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton, please go directly to the cemetery. Flowers may be sent or donations in his memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, at www.diabetes.org/donations.
