Peter L Mancini

Peter L. Mancini, 87, of Worcester died peacefully Friday evening June 24, 2016 at home with loved ones around him. Peter leaves his devoted wife of 65 years Virginia (Caputo) Mancini, his loving daughter Judith Cosenza and her husband Paul of Auburn,and a sister Josephine DeSimone. Peter was the proud grandfather to Lisa Candelaria and her husband Efran, and Deanna Potsis and her husband Peter, and was the loving great grandfather to Gianna, and Nicholas Candelaria, and Anthony Potsis. He also leaves many nephews and nieces. Peter was pre deceased by his brothers, Pat, Matteo, and Frank Mancini, and his sisters, Nardina Romano, Mary Volpe, and Louise DeFranco. Peter was born in Worcester son of the late Domenic and Carmella (Ciufredda) Mancini and lived here all his life. He served proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War. Peter worked for the Amorello and Sons Construction Company as a Hoisting Engineer for many years before he retired. Peter was a devoted and lifetime member of the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann, he was also a member of the East Side Improvement Club, and the Italian American Veterans Post #3. He was a member for over 65 years of the International Union of Operating Engineers, and also the Boston Local #4 Union. Peter loved his lifetime Shrewsbury Street Community, he walked Shrewsbury Street every day to stay in shape and in touch with what was going on in the neighborhood. There was one stop every single day on his walk, and that was at his beloved Church, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann, he never missed a day! Peter enjoyed being with his friends at the Post and Improvement Club. He was the last member of the Manzi Social Club! And enjoyed tending to his Garden. He was a great Husband, Father,Grandfather and Great Grandfather who will be sadly missed by his family and friends.  Peter’s funeral will be held Thursday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00AM in the Church of St. Anne 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family from 9AM to 10:30AM on Thursday at the funeral home prior to leaving for Church. Interment will be in the Family lot in Saint John’s Cemetery.
