Anita (Mercadante) King, Goulding, a lifelong Worcester resident and retired Medical records secretary passed away peacefully Sunday, June 19, 2016 with her devoted son and family at her side. Anita was born in Worcester, the daughter of Joseph and Carmela “Mollie” (DiConza) Mercadante. Anita attended Worcester public schools and earned her degree in medical records from Becker College. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament church when she married Robert L. King who passed away in 1970. Anita then married Farnham B. Goulding in 1984 and became an affiliate member of Wesley United Methodist Church where she remained an active member of the United Methodist Women’s Group, the Church Golden Agers, and member and former Chairperson of the Women’s Circle. Formerly active in her community; Anita was past president of the Worcester Challenge Group originated in this city, Women’s Republican Club of Worcester County, and at onetime was a member and board of director of the Worcester Y.W.C.A.. Anita retired from the Veterans Administration Clinic in Worcester in December of 1987. She previously worked at Worcester City Hospital and during World War II as an assistant to an orthopedic Surgeon. Anita is survived by her son, Laurence B. King of Worcester; Her two brothers, Richard P. Mercadante and his wife Ann Marie of Shrewsbury, Vincent J. Mercadante and his wife Larrie Jean of Anna Maria, Florida; a stepson Rodney Goulding and his wife Susan of Bradenton, Florida: Several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Friends and relatives are invited to a period of calling hours, Friday June 24th from 9:00 am to 10:30 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St before proceeding to Wesley United Methodist Church, 114 Main St Worcester. Burial will follow in St John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in her name can be made to the Wesley United Methodist Church, 114 Main St 01608.
