Gerald "Jerry" Teran 90Shrewsbury - Gerald "Jerry" Teran 90, of Southgate at Shrewsbury, formerly of Paxton and Worcester, passed away peacefully Friday June 3, 2016. He was born in NYC Dec. 13th 1925. He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Beatrice "Birdie" (Sigler) Teran. Gerald is survived by his wife of 65 years Gertrude "Trudy" (Breidler) Teran of Shrewsbury; his son Peter Teran of Worcester; his granddaughter and her husband, David and Alexis (Teran) Hampton. His great grandchildren Ayanna and Isaiah Hampton all of Gainesville, FL.; His daughter Rowena Teran of Worcester and his grandson Joseph Teran Garbose of Jupiter, FL.; plus many relatives & Masonic brothers. Educated in Worcester schools, Sever Prep, Classical High, '43, he attended Clark university and graduated CUM LAUDE from Williams College class of '48 & was a class agent for many years.He served in the U.S. Navy W.W.II in the Pacific Theatre and the 7th fleet in China, Lt. JG., USNR Retired. He was a civilian employee of the U.S. Army and Foreign Service Staff Officer in the U.S. Military Government in Germany 1947-1951. He was a self-employed building contractor-1952 to 1953, and a Life Insurance Broker since 1953. He was a Life and Qualifying Member of the Million Dollar Round Table, Chartered Life Underwriter. Past President, Worcester Chapter Life Underwriters Association, American Society of Chartered Life Underwriters. National Committeeman, Past president Central Massachusetts chapter of the Leukemia Society of America, former Big Brother. Vice President, Worcester Williams Alumni Association. Active in the Masonic Affairs, he was a past Master of Level Lodge A.F.&A.M. as well as the 6th Lodge of instruction. A 320 Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies of Worcester and the Massachusetts consistory. Also a member of Aleppo Shrine and Aletheia Grotto. He was also active in local politics as secretary of Paxton's Democratic town committee, having left the Republican party as a result of his revulsion at the excesses of the Bush/ Cheney/ Rumsfeld fiscal and war mongering arrogance. He is interred at Mooreland Cemetery Paxton.Donations may be made, in Gerald's memory, to a charity of your choice .
