Marie I. (L’Esperance) Kalczynski, 86, of Shrewsbury passed away Friday, June 3rd 2016 surrounded by the family she loved.Marie was born in Lynn, Mass the daughter of Victor and Isabel (Eagar) L’Esperance. Marie graduated from St Jean de Baptiste high school in Lynn and earned her associates degree from Burdett Business College. In 1952, Marie met Walter J. “Walt” Kalczynski, and in 1953 they married and began to raise their family with love and devotion for each other and their family. In 1955, Marie and Walter purchased their home in Shrewsbury where they have lived, enjoying many holidays, special occasions and family celebrations over the last 61 years. Marie worked for the Town of Shrewsbury many years as a clerk in the Town Assessor office before retiring in 1997. Marie is survived by the “love of her life” Walter; her children, Steven W. Kalczynski and his wife Deborah of Birmingham, Michigan, Susan Milkman and her husband Robert of Barre, Jean LeClaire of Warwick, RI, Patricia Martin and her husband Marcel of Grafton, Linda Sweeney and her husband Paul of Hubbardston; A brother, Paul L’Esperance of Lynn; ten grandchildren, Stefan & Sarah Kalczynski, Melissa LaMonda and her husband Joe, Scott LeClaire, Amanda Stabler and her husband Mark, Joseph, Katherine and Daniel Martin, Jack and Bryan Sweeney; five great grandchildren; Many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Marie was a member and free medical clinic volunteer of St. Anne’s Church. The Shrewsbury Business Women’s Club and the State, County and Municipal employees association. Marie was a beautiful women who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; spending time with Walter, her family and friends, family dinners, traveling to many parts of the world especially England, Japan and China where she walked the Great Wall and danced in the streets of Shanghai. She and Walt also drove across the United States visiting our landmarks. Marie also truly believed that faith, family and friends were the most important things in life. She was very generous with her love, time and resources to her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Her passing leaves a hole in her family’s hearts but her loving and caring soul will never be forgotten. Marie’s funeral will be Thursday, June 9th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a procession to the Church of Saint Anne, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd. where her celebration of life’s Mass will be held at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Mt View Cemetery. A period of calling hours will be held from 8:30 am to 10:30 am in the funeral home prior to leaving for church.
