George A. Hatjakos, a longtime Northborough resident, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 2, 2016 with his beloved family gathered by his side. He was 82 years of age. George is survived by his wife and soulmate, Jeannette M. (Latour) Hatjakos whom he has been together with for the past 40 years; His two daughters, Debbie Allen and her husband Dennis of Plainfield, NH, Linda Flanigan and her husband Jay of Northborough; four grandchildren he adored, Christopher Givani, Jeffrey and Ashley Flanigan and Spencer Allen; a GREAT GRANDDAUGHTER Jordyn Givani; a sister Constance Donohue; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A daughter Cheryl Wentzell, Givani passed away in 2008. Three sisters, Helen Rancke, Marion Bandy and June Buron also pre deceased him. George was born and educated in Worcester; his parents were the late Zissis and Theresa (Smith) Hatjakos and he has lived in Northborough since 1979. George worked many years as Vice President for the Winter Hill Frozen Food Company before retiring in 1996. George was a simple family man who cherished the moments he could spend with his family, watching Boxing or spending time at their home in Wells Maine. George could fix most things; He was an accomplished finish carpenter who loved to tinker with wood. George proudly built their home in Maine as well as the home they reside in today. George loved traveling with Jeannette to interesting locations in the United States, around the world such as French Riviera and cruises. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 6th at 11:00 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours, Sunday, June 5th from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the funeral home.
