John R. Simone, 89, of Rochdale, formerly of Worcester died peacefully Tuesday May 31, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. John is survived by his dedicated son John R. Simone and his companion Michelle Madelle-Seifert of Rochdale with whom he lived, his loving grandchildren Sarah and Joseph Simone, A brother Anthony “Tony” Simone and a sister Mary Lalone both of Worcester, and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother Thomas Simone, and two sisters Angela Buffone and Rose Pierce. John was born in Worcester son of the late Pietro and Felecia (Zapena) Simone and lived in Worcester most of his life. He was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade School. After graduating John served his country proudly in the United States Navy during WW11. He was employed at the Worcester Housing Authority for 28 years before he retired. John was a life communicant of the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #201 East Side, and the Italian American Post #3. John loved working outdoors and was also a member of Worcester County Landscaping and Gardeners Association, and the National Association of Gardeners. John loved being with his family and friends, and enjoyed a good day at the Casino! He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. John’s funeral will be held Tuesday June 7, from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00AM in the Church of Our Lady of Loreto, 33 Massasoit Rd. A calling hour with the family will be held from 9AM to 10:30AM in the funeral home prior to leaving for Church. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.
