Eleanor (Pellegrino) Santoro, a longtime Shrewsbury resident passed away at the age of 91, May 31st 2016. Eleanor was born in Worcester, one of twelve children of Italian immigrants Peter and Angelina (Vitteritto) Pellegrino and has lived most of her life in Shrewsbury. Eleanor is survived by her two daughters, Robin Santoro in Northbridge and Dianne Santoro with whom she lived; two brothers, Robert Pellegrino of Worcester and Peter “Junie” Pellegrino and his wife Dianne of Shrewsbury; a sister Dorothy Palermo and her husband Anthony of Worcester; a granddaughter; Lisa; Great granddaughter Britnay; and great great granddaughter Aubrey; sister in laws, Mary Pellegrino of Shrewsbury, Frances and Annette Pellegrino both of Worcester; Many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Besides her parents Ellie was pre deceased by six brothers, Albert, Anthony, Joseph, Frank, Angelo and Raymond Pellegrino and two sisters, Sarah Venuti and Rita Pellegrino. Ellie worked many years for the Worcester County Hospital in Boylston before retiring. She was a member of St Anne’s Church in Shrewsbury. Ellie loved to cook, especially brownies and cheesecake, summers with the family in York Maine and just surrounding herself with her large family. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Sunday, June 5th 2016, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Monday, June 6th from the funeral home with a procession to the Church of Saint Anne, 170 Boston Turnpike Rd. where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am.
