(Logan) Gervais and her husband John of Dudley; a granddaughter whom he adored, Kyelle E. McCreery of Lexington; his cat, Molly; his dog, Luke; and many more friends and relatives. He was predeceased by his parents John F. & Helen E. (Toughill) McCreery. John was a “Good to Go” former Marine, he was born and raised in Camden, NJ. John joined the Corp in 1961 at the age of 17 and he proudly served his Nation during the Vietnam War. While still in the Marine Corp he met the love of his life, Gloria A. Matieria and they eventually settled down in Cambridge, MA, where they lived for many years as he supported his family working in the maintenance department at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. John and Gloria also lived in Medford for a while before he retired, afterward he eventually moved to Worcester to be near his step-daughter Virginia for the past fifteen years. True to his “Semper Fi Marine” heritage John was a dedicated and hard worker, who kept a clean and tidy ship. He was a long time member of the Elks in Cambridge, as well as the Vernon Hill American Legion Post 435 in Worcester. John was an avid reader and was particularly interested in current events, local news and politics. He also enjoyed going on excursions to Hampton Beach and kept himself in lean shape on his long walks. The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CAHPEL is honored to be assisting John’s family with his funeral arrangements. John will be interred with Military Honors at The Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon, MA at a later date.
