William A. “Bill” Weiss, 75, of Holden, passed away suddenly after a brief illness, Sunday May 8, 2016 surrounded by his loving family at UMass Memorial Hospital. William is predeceased by his beloved wife, Bambina A. “Bambi” (DiTomaso) Weiss, who passed away in 2009. They are now together for eternity. Bill is survived by his two devoted children, Mark A. Weiss, his wife Ann, and their daughter Allie Weiss who was the apple of her “Pop Pops” eye, and a daughter, Laura A. Weiss of Holden which whom he lived. He is also survived by his brother, John A. Weiss and his wife Carol of Thompson, CT and a sister, Katherine Bates of Smithfield, RI, nieces and nephews, many cousins and a host of dear friends. Bill was born in Webster, MA, son of the late Arthur and Nellie (Joslin) Weiss. He graduated from Tourtellotte Memorial High School, earned his degree at Pittsburg State University, and a master’s degree from Assumption College. Bill was a school psychologist in the Marlborough Public Schools before his retirement. Bill was a kind and caring man who cherished his family. For those who knew him, Bill’s biggest joy was spending time with his family, especially vacationing in Maine and spending time with his beloved granddaughter. He has traveled many places. He loved New England sports teams, especially the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed being outdoors, golfing, walking, and gardening. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Jefferson MA. The family wishes to thank the staff at UMASS Memorial Hospital ICU Lakeside 2. Especially nurses Nancy, Sean, Jerry, and Diane for your unwavering support throughout these last few difficult days. Also to Dr. Carandang and all the residents and stroke team who tried so vigilantly to save our father. We are so appreciative. Services for Bill will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2016 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 10 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton St., Jefferson. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Milford, MA. A period of calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 11th from 4-7 pm in the funeral home.
