Mary B. Smick, 89, of Worcester died peacefully Monday April 18, 2016 in the UMASS Medical Center after a brief illness. Mary is survived by her son Arthur Smick and his wife Sharon Gerardi-Smick of Worcester, and a sister Dolly Kenyon of Putnam CT. Mary was the doting grandmother to Todd Smick of Medford N.J. and Michael Smick and his longtime partner Susan Tarallo of Worcester. Mary also leaves her loving great grandchildren, Patrick and his wife Danielle, Amanda, Andrew, Trevor, Sierra, and Haley, also her great great grandson Beau. Mary was predeceased by five brothers, Edgar, Franklin, Roger, Roland, and George Smick, and three sisters Mabel Esther, and Anna. Mary was born in Dudley, daughter of the late Joseph and Mabel (Wood) Smick and lived in Worcester most of her life .She was very proud about being a graduate of Boston Women's High School class of “43”. Mary worked as a waitress for many years at the former Messier’s Diner, The Cypress Room, Putnam and Thurstons, and also the Highlander Restaurant. She was also a toll collector at the Mass. Turnpike for many years before she retired. Mary was an avid reader, and loved animals, especially her feline friend Midnight. She also loved to shop QVC! She was a long time active resident of Lincoln Village where she lived for over 40 years. She was a meticulous person who always looked great! Mary adored her son and grandson’s, always expressing how proud she was of them and all their accomplishments. Her family was the most important thing to her. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Calling hours for Mary will be held on Thursday April 28, 2016 from 4PM to 6PM in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. a service will be held at the conclusion of the service.
