Mary (DiVerdi) Gosselin, Higgins, 86 of Worcester passed away in the presence of family Friday, April 8, 2016. Mary was born in Worcester a daughter of Joseph and Angelina (Scuderi) DiVerdi. She graduated from Commerce High School, and has lived in Worcester, Shrewsbury and Westboro. Mary’s husband of 33 years John Higgins passed away in 2014. Her first husband, Joseph Gosselin passed away in 1966. She is survived by her four children, Joseph R. Gosselin and his wife Pina of Worcester, Debra M. Maroney of Shrewsbury; Michael J. Gosselin and his wife Candace of Needham and Anthony A. Gosselin of Worcester; a brother, Angelo DiVerdi of Shrewsbury and sister, Isabella “Issy” Covello of Shrewsbury; seven grandchildren she truly cherished and whom cherished her, Lisa, Kelly, Laurie, Erin, Adam, Ashley and Nicholas; three great grandchildren, Kaylin, Matthew, and Nora; Many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. A brother, Rocco DiVerdi pre deceased her. Mary worked many years as a Waitress for Leo’s Ristorante before retiring. She enjoyed playing cards, the Theatre, traveling to Italy and ocean cruises. Mary was a beautiful person who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, family dinners, holidays and special occasions. Mary’s funeral will be held Wednesday, April 13th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St with a procession to St Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Road where her funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. A period of calling hours will be held from 9 to 10:30 am Wednesday prior to leaving for church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St Anne’s Church Human Services, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd. Shrewsbury.
