Catalda R. (D’Ascanio) Roy, 84, of Sterling, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert E. Roy, Jr. in 1989. She was also predeceased by their daughter, Marie Louise Habron in 2008. Catalda is survived by her sons, Mark R. Roy and his wife Patricia of Sterling, and Paul M. Roy of Middlebury, CT; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Genevieve, Ariana, Annabel, Nicholas, Michael, and Thomas; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, Angelo R., Ralph L., Jr., Michaelangelo, and Anthony J. D’Ascanio, and by a sister, Catherine Mulvey. Catalda was born in Worcester, daughter of the late, Ralph L. Sr. and Catherine (Lentini) D’Ascanio, she graduated from Worcester High School of Commerce. She worked as a telephone operator for New England Telephone. Mrs. Roy worked in Foodservice at UMass Medical Center in Worcester, before retiring. Catalda was a member of Saint Richard of Chichester Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and enjoyed special times with her family. There are no calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 23 at 10 a.m. in Saint Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge Street, Sterling. Entombment with her husband and daughter will be done privately at Saint John’s Mausoleum in Worcester.
