Daniel P. D'Errico

March 19, 1935 — April 3, 2016

Daniel P. D’Errico, 81, of Worcester, passed away on Sunday morning, April 3, 2016, surrounded by his loving family at Rose Monahan Hospice Residence.   Daniel is survived by his loving wife of nearly sixty-one years, Mary E. (Gray) D’Errico; a son, Daniel A. D’Errico and his fiancé Jody Chiumento of Falmouth; four daughters, Donna M. D’Errico, Diane E. Polli and her husband Joseph, and Sandra E. DiRoberto and her husband Joseph, all of Worcester, and Justine M. DeNorscia and her husband Kevin of Holden; a brother Thomas D’Errico and his fiancé Mary O’Connell of Shrewsbury; seven grandchildren, Joseph Polli, Deanna Foster and her husband James, Matthew DiRoberto, Kyle DiRoberto, Anthony DeNorscia, Delaney DeNorscia, and Meghan DeNorscia; cousins, nieces and a nephew.  He was predeceased by a sister, Angela Fitzgerald.  Daniel was born in Worcester, son of the late Anthony and Donatina (DiSanti) D’Errico.  He has lived in the Lakeview neighborhood for his entire life.   Daniel worked at Tech Tailor and Cleaners on Highland Street in Worcester; Tech was a family business founded by his father.  He worked beside his dad and his brother, Tom for many years, until their father retired.  Daniel and his brother then operated the business until their retirement in 1988.  He was a member of the former Saint Margaret Mary Church and was currently a member of Saint Anne’s Church in Shrewsbury.  He was a member of the Greendale Retired Men’s Club, Knights of Columbus and enjoyed golf.  Daniel was very talented and he enjoyed painting, specifically painting portraits of family and friends.    “Papa”, as he was known by his grandchildren, loved his “tailor made” family and instilled in each of his children and grandchildren the importance of a close family and the love and laughter they could share together.  Daniel loved spending time with family and close friends at their family home in Falmouth, and he found great joy spending the day at Old Silver Beach, followed by a quick stop for ice cream.  He believed in traditions such as gathering on a Sunday morning to enjoy coffee, an anisette and good Italian Music.  Christmas Eve found Daniel and Mary hosting the “Feast of the Seven Fishes”, every year; and it was how life should be in his eyes…family, togetherness, love, music, and good food.   The D’Errico family would like to thank Laura’s Guardian Angels for their tender loving care, which allowed Daniel to remain in the comfort of his home; and thank you to the wonderful people at Rose Monahan Hospice Residence, for the care shown to Daniel and his family, during his final day.   Calling Hours for Daniel will be held on Friday, April 8, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.  His Funeral will be on Saturday, April 9, departing the funeral home in procession at 9:40 a.m., for a 10 a.m. Mass at Saint Anne’s Church, 120 Boston Turnpike Road, (Route 9 East), Shrewsbury.  Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.   In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence, in care of VNA Care Network, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
