Andre J. LaPointe, 69, of Worcester, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, surrounded by his loving family at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, following an eleven year battle with Multiple Myeloma. Andre is survived by the love of his life for the past 36 years, his wife and confidante, Susan (Breau) LaPointe; two sons, Kris L. LaPointe and his wife Gail of Auburn, and Michael P. Breau of Worcester; three daughters, Lisa M. LaPointe of Uxbridge, Tracy A. Cain and her husband Chris of Vernon, CT., and Stephanie L. LaPointe of Pawtucket, RI; ten grandchildren, Schyler, Marcus, Zachary, Lauren, Averie, Kyle, Amiyah,Elyse, Gavin, and Alanah; a sister Jeanne Duggan of Milbury; many nieces and nephews and his dear friend, Nick Weselovs. Andre was born in Worcester, son of the late, Marc A. and Anita M. (Puretta) LaPointe.  He grew up in Holden and graduated from Wachusett High School. Andre joined the United States Army, following High School, and served his nation proudly in Vietnam. Andre worked for many years as a Maintenance Supervisor for several companies in the Worcester area, most notably, PresMet, Thomas Smith and Chase Walton. He was a member of the Steel Workers Union and also served as Union President. Andre loved his family so much and had a special connection with not only his children but his grandchildren, who called him "Pup" or "Papa". He was an inspiration to all who knew him and always had a smile on his face accompanied by a joke and a silly face. Andre enjoyed camping, bowling, and "The Wonder of It All".  Love is not a big enough word to describe what he and his family shared. And saying he will be missed is an understatement. The legacy of his spirit and zest for life will live on through them.  Rest in Paradise our hero, warrior, and strength. We will love you beyond forever. Calling Hours for Andre will be held on Sunday, April 3, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.  His Funeral will be held on Monday, April 4, departing the funeral home at 9:40 a.m. in procession to a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry Street, Worcester.  Interment with Military Honors, will follow in Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.
