Mildred D. (Poston) Wheeler (AKA Tootsie) of Providence, RI passed away after a valiant fight with cancer, on March 25, 2016 at home with her loving family and friends at her bedside. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God and the love and prayer of her family, friend and many supporters carried her through. She is predeceased by the love of her life, Clinton Wheeler who died in December, 2015. Tootsie was a strong woman, strong in opinion and personality, strong in faith, and strong in the love of her family. She loved to read and had a passion for electronic gadgets of all sorts and without a doubt the most technically savvy member of the family. She left behind to mourn, her daughter, Sondra Knowles of Shrewsbury, her mother, Sandy (Bull) Poston of Worcester; two brothers, Eugene and Eric Poston; four sisters, Barbara (Poston) Doughty, Lillian (Poston) Leslie, Janice Poston and Cynthia (Poston) Folson. She also leaves three adored grandchildren, Jordan, Kya and Connor; as well as many friends and extended family. She was born in Hartsville, South Carolina, daughter of the late Eugene Henry Poston and lived for many years, between Worcester and Providence, Rhode Island. A Funeral service for Tootsie will be celebrated on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Family will receive friends form 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 31st. Burial will be at Hope Cemetery.
