Giacomo "Jack" Cicero

Giacomo “Jack” Cicero, 88, of Worcester a friend to all passed away unexpectedly at home Monday, March 21st 2016 with his daughter by his side.     Jack was born in Worcester, one of ten children of Italian immigrants Carlo and Felicia (Sciascia) Cicero.  Educated in Worcester and a member of the “Greatest Generation”, he joined the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving in the South Pacific as a  seaman gunner with the 7th Fleet.  He returned home, and settled on Grafton Hill to raise his family.  Jack then accepted a position as a lineman for the Massachusetts Electric Company where he worked over 30 years retiring as a foreman.  Jack then became a business agent for another 21 years for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local 326. Before retiring in 1991.  Jack has lived in Worcester all his life.   Jack’s wife of 36 years Susan Jean (Braskie) Cicero passed away in 2008.  His first wife Pauline (Awad) Cicero also pre deceased him.   He is survived by his seven children; Carl Cicero and his wife Denise of Charlton, John Cicero, Paul Cicero and his wife Linda, all of Worcester, John and Michael Tisdale both of Las Vegas, NV, twin daughters, Mary Crossman his caretaker for the past 10 years, with who he lived and Cindy Baker of Worcester; His daughter in law, Linda (Rocco) Cicero; a brother James Cicero and sister Bella Sabacinski; 30 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; Nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.   Besides his wives, Jack was pre deceased by his son, Mark Cicero, daughter, Kim Payne-Coffman, grandson Michael Crossman, brothers, Phillip, Joseph, Leo, Jimmy, and John Cicero and sisters, Mary Scano and Anna Assad.  Giacomo was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, the Eastside Post 201 American legion, and the IBEW Local 326.  He loved playing cards with whoever wanted to, his daily coffee with friends at the Eastside Post, his garden and doing masonry work.   Jack in his youth, was a standout semi pro athlete in both Baseball and Football nicknamed “Crazy Legs”.   Jack was patriarch of his family, always the one who people came to for guidance and counsel; Jack always gave his thoughts and suggestions.  He will be greatly missed by his whole family. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Monday, March 28th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St.  His funeral will be held Tuesday, from the funeral home with a procession to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St where his celebration of Life Mass will be held at 11:30 am.  Burial with Navy Honors will follow in St John Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers donations in his name can be made to the Cicero Family Fund, c/o Central One Credit Union, 63 Southbridge Street, Auburn 01501.
