Kathleen E. (Dyer) McNeil, 62, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 19, 2016 after being stricken ill. Kathleen was born in Panama City, Panama on June 13, 1953, a daughter of Martin J. Dyer, Jr. and Barbara S. (Jordan) Dyer. She graduated from St. Peter's High School in Worcester, and Rob Roy School of Cosmetology and has lived here all her life. Kathleen, a gifted hairdresser and cosmetologist, owned and operated Irish Curls Hair Salon for over 20 years before retiring. She taught cosmetology for both RobRoy and Broms Academies, and was a cosmetology examiner for the state of Massachusetts. Kathleen is survived by her husband of 25 years, Joseph B. McNeil; her four cherished children, Shawn M. Freniere, and his fiancée Nicole Limoges of Charlton, Joseph J. “Jaybo” McNeil of Sutton, Colleen F. O’Brien, and her husband Timothy of Worcester, Erin Channing, and her husband Steven of Morrisville, North Carolina; four siblings Joanne E. Dyer, Stephen M. Dyer and his wife Cheryl all of Worcester, Janice M. Dyer of Southbridge, John J. Dyer Sr, and his wife Patricia of Gardner; four grandchildren she dearly loved, Kaela and Breanna, Ericka and Madison, ; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Kathleen was a member of Scared Heart of Jesus Church, and the American Legion, Vernon Hill Post 435, Women’s Auxiliary. She loved the summers in York, Maine, baking and cooking for her family, while celebrating holidays and special occasions. She was the strength of her family; her husband, children and grandchildren always came first. Kathleen’s funeral will be held Saturday, March 26th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a procession to Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 500 Cambridge St. where a Liturgy of the Word service will be held at 10:00 am.
