Elizabeth “Libby” (Walsh) Gleason, 64, of Worcester passed away peacefully Tuesday, March15th 2016 surrounded by the family she loved. Elizabeth was born in Worcester, a daughter of David I and Mary T. (Vallely) Walsh. She graduated from Burncoat High School and has lived here all her life. Libby’s husband of 24 years, Paul M. Gleason passed away in March of 2004. She is survived by her devoted family, her seven children, Jonathan Liljegren and his wife Melissa, James Liljegren with whom she lived, and Kathleen Liljegren all of Worcester, Sean Liljegren and his wife Ashley of Southbridge, Elizabeth Gleason of Millbury, Mary Gleason and M. Michael Gleason and his fiancé Taylor Leonard all of Worcester; a brother, Walter Antul and his wife Patricia; two sisters, Maureen Walsh and Kathleen Vaillette and her husband Lawrence; nine grandchildren she cherished and found her life’s inspiration in, Taylor, Hannah, Jenna, Connor, Ella, Dyanee, Junior, Giannalize and Jaydin; her best friend Patricia Falcone; Many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Besides her husband Paul, a brother David I. Walsh, Jr. and a nephew, David I. Walsh, III also pre deceased her. Libby worked for the Lincoln Street Dunkin Donuts for over 20 years before retiring. She also worked as a waitress for several area clubs and restaurants including the Froshinn Club and the former Eden Restaurant. A simple woman that was the rock of the family. Her husband, children and grandchildren always came first in her life. She found her greatest joy surrounded by family at holidays and special occasion gatherings. She was a member of St Joan of Arc Church. Libby truly believed that family and friends were the most important things, she was considered the neighborhood mother keeping her eyes on all the children and helping all the neighbors that needed help. She was very generous with her love, time and resources, and helped anyone she could. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Thursday, March 24th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. A prayer service will follow at 7:00 pm in the funeral home. Burial next to Paul will be at a later time in St John’s Cemetery. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial remembrances in her name can be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Center, P.O.
