Dr. Diane M. Cappoli, 63 of Worcester, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the Critical Care Unit of UMass Memorial Hospital in the presence of her loving family. Diane leaves behind her loving husband of 29 years, Dr. Stephen J. Bourgault; her parents, Albert and Irene (Getek) Cappoli of Worcester; a brother, Albert M. Cappoli, Jr. of Auburn. A dedicated optometrist in Webster, MA, Diane’s formal education included a bachelor’s degree from Clark University in Worcester, a master’s degree in biology from Anna Maria College and her doctor of optometry degree from New England College of Optometry in Boston. A professional woman of many talents and skills, the most obvious of which a friendly, caring attitude toward her patients; patients who would as much refer to her as a kind friend rather than their eye doctor. Never boastful of the self-made woman that she was one could sense that she possessed a subtle pride of her accomplishments. Diane shared a special relationship with her mother, Irene. Shopping buddies might best describe their relationship. One other object of her affection was the family dog “snickers”, a pampered pet for sure. Originally diagnosed with cancer in 2004, Diane waged a many year battle with varied forms of the disease with both courage and dignity. Many lives have been enriched by the presence of this loving woman. Surely will she be missed. Services for Diane will be held privately.
