Melissa Cannon, 60, of Worcester passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, on Monday, February 22, 2016 at Mass General Hospital in Boston after a brief period of declining health. Melissa was the daughter of the late Dr. Raymond G. and Esther L. (Smith) Cannon. She was raised in Marlboro and graduated from Marian High School. Melissa greatly enjoyed her work as a matron for the Worcester Police Department. She loved spending time with friends and family and following the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. She also enjoyed spending her time cooking and gardening. Melissa is survived by her three daughters, Delia Galloni and her husband Jon of Auburn, MA, Alison Shankle and her husband Scott of Auburn, MA, and Meghan Curtis of Wyoming; two grandchildren, Ryan & Elizabeth Galloni and longtime companion Christopher Curtis. Friends and Relatives will gather for a period of remembrance on Thursday, February 25th, 2016 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. immediately followed by a Memorial Service at 6pm in the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, MA. Interment will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday February 26th, 2016 at Evergreen Cemetery, 133 Wilson Street, Marlborough, MA 01752.
