Eugene C. “Gino” Peris, 93. A longtime Lieutenant with the Worcester Fire Department died peacefully Monday February 22, 2016 in the Christopher House. Gino is survived by his loving family, Ronald Peris and his wife Susan of Shrewsbury, Sandra Dinsdale of Freeport Maine, and Paula Petit of Worcester.Eugene was the proud grandfather to eleven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, among them Patricia Wassel who was like another daughter to Gino and was always there for him. The family truly appreciates all that she has done. Gino was predeceased by a brother Frank Peris, and two sisters, Dora Raymond and Mary Gorgoglione. Eugene was born in Worcester son of the late Rosario and Antoinette (Paciello) Peris and lived here all his life. He was a graduate of Commerce High School. Eugene served his country proudly in the United States Army during WW11. He served in the European African Middle Eastern Theatre. Upon returning home Gino worked at Crompton Knowles Company for several years, before becoming a Worcester Firefighter. He served as a Lieutenant and was Stationed at the former Woodland Street Station for over 24 years before he retired. Gino was a long time member of the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann. He loved being a fireman and stayed in contact with many of his friends there. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Eugene’s funeral will be held on Saturday February 27, at 10:30AM in the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann 24 Mulberry St. A calling hour IN THE CHURCH will be held from 9:30 to 10:30AM. Interment with Military honor’s will be in St. John’s Cemetery. In Lieu of Flowers contributions may be made to the Church Renovation Fund of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, at the above address.
