November 29, 1929 — February 12, 2016

Genevieve H. (Duncan) Agbay, 86, longtime Worcester resident passed away on Friday, February 12, 2016 with her loved ones gathered by her bedside.Genevieve would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a call from Jesus, a sort of offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning.The assignment comes with finally getting to meet Jesus and finally getting to reunite with her loving husband, Tony and a reunion with family and friends that she has not seen in a long time. Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, dancing, cooking and reading to her hearts content. Music, laughter and love are guaranteed, the food is delicious and you never gain an ounce. She has left detailed instructions for her children and family to celebrate her mission here, which is now been completed. Genevieve was born in Spencer, a daughter of the late Elmer and Genevieve (Butler) Duncan; she was one eleven children, and graduated from Leicester High School. In 1948, Genevieve, married Tony Agbay and for the next forty years, they raised their family with love, devotion and dedication until Tony passed away in 1988. Genevieve continued to be the center of her family. Genevieve was a homemaker her whole life. She is survived by her devoted family; her children, Richard Agbay of Worcester, Anthony Agbay and his wife Maureen of Spencer, Cheryl D’Ambra and her husband Joseph of Worcester, Cindy Saucier and her husband Daniel of Holden, David Agbay and his wife Jocelyn of Worcester, Sandra O’Shea and her husband Gerald of Sutton, Michael Agbay and his wife Lori of Worcester, and Robert Agbay and his wife Sheila of Worcester; eighteen Grandchildren, Ashley, Alexis, James, Anthony Jr., Brian, Stephen, David Jr., Jocelyn, Alyssa, Jeness, Robert Jr., and Kayla Agbay ,Tara and Joe Jr. D’Ambra, Daniel Jr. and Kimberly Saucier, Morgan and Shane O’Shea; eight great grandchildren, DJ and Bella Mara, Anthony III, Ace, Maverick, Brianna, Mikayla, and Faith Agbay. She is also survived by her sister, Carol Wall of Stuart Florida, and her brother Albert Duncan of Worcester; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 3 brothers and 5 sisters. She was a beautiful person who enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved gourmet cooking, baking and cake decorating. She was very creative and was a talented artist who loved to draw. She loved decorating, knitting and needlepoint. Her husband, children and grandchildren always came first in her life and they will remember her smile, her warmth, her love of life, family and friends. She made a difference in the lives of many. Her passing leaves a hole in our hearts but her loving and caring soul will not be forgotten. We want to let her know that she did a great job and wish her a safe journey.The family would like to express its sincere gratitude for the care and compassion she received from many of the staff at the Holden Nursing and Rehab Center where she was a resident the last few years. We would also like to thank UMass ICU staff for their care and compassion through this difficult time. We invite you to join us and celebrate together during Calling Hours on Tuesday, February 16, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Her Funeral will be held from the funeral home on Wednesday morning, February 17, departing at 9:40 a.m. in procession for a 10 a.m. Mass at Saint John’s Church, 44 Temple Street, Worcester.
