Marion B. (McGrath) Campbell, 96 of Worcester passed away Friday, January 29th 2016 with the family she loved gathered at her bedside after a brief illness. Marion was born in Worcester, one of four daughters “The Dolly Sisters” of David and Ellen (Kiley) McGrath and graduated from St Peters High School. In 1941, Marion married Henry F. Campbell and for the next forty years, they raised their family with Love, devotion and dedication until Henry passed away in 1981. Marion continued to be the center of her family. Marion worked for Rockwood Sprinkler, Vellumoid Corporation and David Clark Company before accepting a position with the Diocese of Worcester as a switchboard operator where she worked many years before retiring.She is survived by her devoted family; her children, Paul F. Campbell and his wife Beverly, David W. Campbell and his wife Marie all of Worcester, Judith A. Whalen and her husband Joseph of Chelmsford; five grandchildren, Mary, Kathleen, Sara, Sean and Marybeth; nine great grandchildren; Many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. A daughter, Ann Campbell and Marion's three sisters, Madeline Kennedy, Marguerite McGrath and Eileen O’Malley all pre deceased her. She was a member of St Bernard/ Our Lady of Providence Parish and the Red Hat Society. Marion and Henry loved to dance; whether it was the PNI Club, the Frohsinn Club on Saturday night or just any place there was music you could dance to, Marion could be found. She was a beautiful person who enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, her friends and at family dinners, dancing or any other special occasions. Her husband, children and grandchildren always came first in her life. She was the backbone of the family and remained devoted to them throughout her life. She truly believed that faith, family and friends were the most important things in life. She had room in her heart for everyone she met. Marion was very generous with her love, her time and her resources, and helped anyone she could. Her passing leaves a hole in our hearts but her loving and caring soul will not be forgotten. Marion funeral will be held Tuesday, February 2nd from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St with a procession to St Bernard/Our Lady of Providence Church, 228 Lincoln St where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Burial next to her husband Henry will follow in St John Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours, Monday, February 1st from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the funeral home.
