Sr. Liliana DiLiddo, MPV, 84 Sr. Liliana DiLiddo of the Venerini Sisters was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, January 24th , at Memorial Hospital in Worcester. Born in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Nina DiLiddo –Molinari and Frank D. DiLiddo, she grew up in Worcester. Sr. Liliana was among the first graduates of Venerini Academy when it was a high school for girls. She joined the Venerini Sisters in 1949 and was professed in 195l. Sr. Liliana earned her B.A. at Catholic Teachers College in Providence, RI and an M.Ed. at Fitchburg State College, specializing in Reading. She was a member of the International Reading Association. Though teaching in various schools in the Albany and Providence Diocese, the greatest number of years was in the Worcester Diocese at St. Anna’s in Leominster and Venerini Academy in Worcester. Sr. Liliana taught in nursery school through grade three, but first grade was her specialty. She loved the little children and was loved by them. Her way with them was like that of a mother, wanting to help all of her children to be their best. She also taught CCD classes in the various parishes where she was. Despite numerous health problems and physical pain, Sr. Liliana wanted to teach for as long as she could, leaving only when her failing health required it. She then went to the Presentation Healthcare Center in Leominster where she enjoyed the loving care and community of the Sisters and staff there until physical complications made it necessary for her to move to St. Mary’s in Worcester. Besides her Religious Sisters in the Venerini Congregation, Sr. Liliana is survived by her brother Frank DiLiddo of Hardwick, MA, her sisters—Susan Todisco of Brooklyn, Elizabeth Iacono and Ann Molinari of Colts Neck, NJ—her aunt, Leda Lopopolo of Worcester and her loving nieces and nephews. Services will be held at the Fusaro Memorial Chapel at Venerini Academy, 23 Edward Street, with calling hours from 4- 7P.M. on Friday, January 29th and a Funeral Liturgy on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. in the chapel. Burial will follow in St. John’s cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Venerini Academy or to the Venerini Sisters Retirement Fund.
