Frank J. Polaski of Worcester, a Veteran of World War II and a former instructor and Department Head at Blackstone Valley Regional Technical High School in Upton, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2016, in Saint Vincent Hospital.He leaves his loving wife of seventy-three years, Stephanie B. (Rosochacki); two daughters, Carol Carmody and her husband Cornelius Carmody of Worcester, and Barbara Gentile of Maitland, FL; four grandchildren, Daniel Carmody and his wife Laurel of Tolland, CT, Stephen Carmody of Los Angeles, Christopher Gentile of Winter Park, FL, and Tara Sapp and her husband Brady of Sanford, FL; six great grandchildren, Devan, Jack, and Taylor Carmody of Tolland, CT, and Sierra, Sophia, and Sadie Sapp of Sanford, FL; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers and seven sisters. He was born in Worcester, son of the late, John and Anna (Gorski) Polaski.Mr. Polaski graduated from the former Classical High School, Lincoln Welding Tech School in Cleveland, OH, and Fitchburg State College earning a Bachelor of Science Degree. He served in the United States Marine Corps in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre, during World War II.He was an instructor for twenty years, retiring in 1982 as Department Head of Metal Fabrication at Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational High School in Upton, MA. Previously he was a foreman of Pullman Standard Car Company of Worcester, a member of the Pipefitters Local 4 of Worcester as a Journeyman and welder, and Apprentice Instructor. He was a former Chairman of Massachusetts Vocational Teachers Association, a member of Saint Mary’s Boosters, member of the Polish American Veterans of World War II serving many years on the Board of Trustees. He was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish in Worcester.Calling Hours for Mr. Polaski will be held on Monday, January 25, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 26, departing the funeral home in procession at 9:30 a.m. for a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street, Worcester.
