Charles D. Dahrooge, 88 of Westminster, formerly of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 22, 2016 at The Kindred Nursing Home in Westborough surrounded by his loving family. Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Margaret (Brennan) Dahrooge; two daughters, Helen Mancini of North Grafton and Betty Albano of Auburn; a sister, Evelyn Kalil of Worcester; four grandchildren, Joseph Albano and his wife Christol of Shrewsbury, Angela Mancini Rowe and her husband Michael of Natick, Michelle Albano and her fiancé Ryan Mancini of Auburn and Kristopher Mancini and his fiancé Nicole Gorgoglione of Worcester; seven great grandchildren, Kayla Baker, Gianna and Annabella Mancini, Samantha Rowe, Allie Mancini, Jayden and Anthony Albano. He is predeceased by his brother, Richard Dahrooge: a son-in-law, Joseph Albano. Charles was born in Worcester, a son of the late Charles and Anna (Stachura) Dahrooge. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade and had lived in Worcester, Shrewsbury and Westminster. He served his country in World War II for the United States Army Air Corps. Charles worked as a carpenter for Saint Vincent’s Hospital for 31 years retiring in 1993. Charles was a 32nd degree Mason, a former member of the Nashua Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America, a member of the Aleppo Shriners, the Carpenters Union, Local 170 and St. Edward the Confessor Church in Westminster. The Dahrooge family would like to thank all the staff and the hospice team at the Kindred Nursing Home, Alzheimer’s Unit in Westborough for the outstanding care and compassion given to Charles for the past two years. Services for Charles will be held on Monday, January 25, 2016 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 10 am in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St., Worcester. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. A period of calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 24th from 4-7 pm in the funeral home.
