Janusz J. Nastaj, 81 of Sutton, formerly of Lublin, Poland passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 17th, 2016, at University of Massachusetts Medical Center, with his beloved family by his side. He was predeceased by his wife Jadwiga (Dzieniszewska) in January of 2007. Janusz was born and raised in Lublin, Poland, one of eleven children of the late Józef & Stephania (Tyburek) Nastaj. He attended Lublin Polytechnic Institute, where he earned a degree in Civil Engineering. Janusz worked as a civil engineer in Poland for over 40 years until his retirement in 2000. After his retirement he and Jadwiga moved to the United States to be closer to their daughter, Dorota, and grandchildren. He spent the past 15 years with them in Sutton, MA. Janusz is survived by his daughter, Dorota Poluha and her husband Wojciech of Sutton; his two sons, Tomasz Nastaj and his wife Renata and Bartosz Nastaj and his wife Zosia all of Lublin, Poland; six grandchildren, Mateusz & Alex Poluha, Dominik, Karolina, Robert & Radoslaw Nastaj; two brothers, Henry and Jerzy; five sisters, Barbara, Jadwiga, Elzbieta, Marta, & Irena; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Jadwiga and parents, Janusz was also predeceased by his brother, Ryszard and two sisters, Malgorzata and Ewa. Janusz enjoyed spending time fishing, gardening, and cooking. He was a true engineer at heart and enjoyed building and fixing things around the house. Janusz also enjoyed watching football, hockey and basketball games. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and loved spending time with his family above all else. Janusz wanted to be buried along his wife in Lublin, Poland. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family during calling hours on Friday, February 12, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, MA.
