Madeline (McGrath) Kennedy, 95, a long time Shrewsbury resident died Saturday January 9, 2016 in the Auburn Life Care Center. Her husband of 35 years Thomas F. Kennedy died in 1986. Madeline leaves a daughter Maryellen Burns and her husband Kenneth of Shrewsbury, and a son Mark F. Kennedy and his wife Leslie of Texas, and one sister, Marion Campbell. She is the loving Grandmother to, Brianne, Thomas, Bridget, and Molly, Alysa, and Kenneth. Madeline was also great grandmother to Alex,Valentina, Ethan, Caleb, Bryce, Benjamin, Luke, and Jacob. She was predeceased by two sisters, Eileen O’Malley and Marguerite McGrath. Madeline was born in Worcester daughter of the late David and Ellen (Kiley) McGrath and was a resident of Shrewsbury for over 48 years. She worked for the former New England Phone Company for many years, and also worked at Spag’s before she retired. Madeline was an active parishioner of the Church of St Anne. She was a member of St. Anne’s Women’s League and also the Streaker’s Bowling League. She was a member of the Shrewsbury Women’s Club, and was a dependable volunteer for the St. Anne’s Human Services. She enjoyed line dancing, but most of all she loved being with her family. Madeline will be sadly missed by her friends and family. Madeline’s family would like to thank her caregivers especially Lucy Ndegwa and the Staff of the Auburn Life Care Center, it is greatly appreciated. Madeline ‘s funeral will be held Thursday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00A.M. in the Church of St Anne, 130 Boston Turnpike. Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday evening from 5PM to 7PM In the funeral home. Interment with her husband will be in St. Johns Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Anne’s Human Services.
